Raising Girls to Be Godly Women

As part of our spring 2023 Parenting Pathway Class series, we welcomed Pastoral Leaders Chrissy Smith and Melissa Renner from our Women’s Ministry here at Stonebriar Community Church to lead a discussion about raising girls to be godly women.

As Lead Pastoral Leader of Stonebriar Women, Chrissy has the privilege of serving women by connecting them with others, encouraging them to grow in their relationship with the Lord in small groups or individual relationships, and equipping them for serving in all of the ways the Lord leads them. Chrissy also serves on Stonebriar’s Pastoral Lead Team, enjoining with all ministries to pursue the vision God has for Stonebriar. Chrissy and her husband, Scott, have been married for 31 years and have two children, Chandler Grace (24) and Brock (21). They have been a part of Stonebriar since 1998 and are grateful for our church.

Melissa Renner serves as Pastoral Leader for Stonebriar Women. She and her husband have been married for 20 years and have two children, Jake (16) and Mallary (13). Melissa currently oversees the Online and Women’s Ministries at Stonebriar and is pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry.  When she is not busy with work or school, it’s likely she is playing with her dogs or roaming the aisles of Costco.

In this class, Chrissy and Melissa share thoughts about what you can do to make a big difference in your girls’ lives:

  1. Raise your girls to know God and trust that He loves them.
  2. Be there for your girls. Be involved in their lives.
  3. Bring mentors and other women into their lives who they can talk to apart from Mom and Dad.
  4. Make sure they have a male role model in their life if their dad is not involved.

Both Chrissy and Melissa speak from their own experience of raising daughters. With humor and heart for loving their girls, they share life experience, funny stories, and some helpful tips.
