So many of us have a “not my child” perspective or a view that we have some super power to protect our kids from the world they live in. But my heart is heavy with the need to share my own story of pornography’s impact on our family. A mom’s perspective is different from what you would expect and extremely personal. The average age of first exposure to pornography is 8 years old; this is not usually a result of intentional seeking but accidental exposure, and as you will see in my family’s story, the risk and consequences begin early. We cannot always protect our children, but we can arm them with the language and the environment to bring their experience to us as their parents, before a dangerous cycle begins.
