Knowing Your Kids

Knowing your Kids

Watch this Parenting Pathway class to discover the connection between your child’s communication style and their temperament. In this one-hour class, we will look at a communication framework based on the book I Said This, You Heard That by author Kathleen Edelman, featuring the four temperaments:

  • Sanguine
  • Choleric
  • Melancholic
  • Phlegmatic

These temperaments were originally created by Hippocrates in ancient Greece. The theory of the four temperaments has been used in the study of human psychology for centuries, and it is the foundation for current personality profiles such as Myers-Briggs.

Together, we will explore how our temperaments represent the way God uniquely made each of us and our children, and we’ll learn how to better communicate with each different temperament. By learning to talk with our children in their native language, understanding that it may differ from our own, we can communicate more effectively in our homes and grow in grace together.
